		<description>I blogged about this exact issue a couple of months back. It frustrates me to no end.  I find the best way to use exception handling is to only catch (and handle) specific exceptions like InvalidOperationException, ArgumentException, et al.  Catching the base Exception is always an invitation to implement the anti-pattern you describe.</description>

		<description>Great Post.  I am guilty sometimes of the saftey net in win32 apps if I want to bubble down to the lowest level of whatever dll I am working on in the case of multi dll's passing back to different logging mechanisms.  

&lt;i&gt;If you for some reason catch and rethrow (like if you want to add to the exception object), do a throw and not a throw origEx to keep the call stack.&lt;/i&gt;
